Goodbye 2024: Highlights, Learnings, and What’s Ahead in 2025
As the year winds down, I’ve been reflecting on the projects, travels, and collaborations that made 2024 such a memorable year. From working with incredible interior design clients to travelling for retreats and sharing knowledge with industry peers, it’s been a year full of growth and creativity.
Here are some of my highlights, key learnings, and what I’m looking forward to in 2025.
1. Working With Wonderful Clients to Realise Their Dream Interiors
This year has been full of exciting projects, from consultations to full-scale transformations. Highlights include a whole-house renovation of a stunning Victorian property, creating a luxurious hotel-inspired vibe for a large home under confidentiality, and starting work on a charming manor house and a beautiful period property near Southwell.
I’ve also worked with clients on targeted room revamps, often through half-day consultations that allow us to collaborate and tackle projects in stages.
With so many exciting projects nearing completion, I can’t wait to share more updates and transformations in the new year!
2. Travel and Retreats: Expanding Perspectives
Travel has been a huge source of inspiration this year, and I’m so grateful for the learning opportunities and new friendships that came with it. These retreats were packed with creativity, connection, and colour:
Italy with Kate Watson-Smyth at Mad About the HouseHosted by the brilliant Kate, this retreat in her stunning villa near Turin was nothing short of transformative.Key takeaways:
● Open-mindedness is key to fresh ideas and deeper connections.
● Master the balance of bold and timeless styling, as taught by Kate.
● Colour theory and styling fundamentals from Nicole Gray and Fiona de Lys left me inspired and brimming with ideas.
Marrakech with Sophie Robinson’s Discover Colour RetreatDiving into the vibrant world of Moroccan design with Sophie Robinson was unforgettable.Key takeaways:
● Fearlessly embrace colour to energise and transform spaces.
● Layer textures for depth and richness.
● Look to local craftsmanship for timeless and authentic details.
Both retreats reinforced the value of stepping away to learn, connect, and gain new perspectives.
3. Collaboration is Key
This year has been a reminder of the importance of collaboration, not just with clients but also with trusted suppliers and industry colleagues. Building strong relationships allows me to deliver exceptional results for my clients.
A special moment was working with COAT Paints, where I shared some of my top tips for choosing and using colour. Their commitment to sustainability and premium finishes perfectly aligns with my values, and I love collaborating with suppliers who share my passion for quality. I’ve also particularly loved working with Parker Howley, who I’ve worked a few times with to create stunning bespoke furniture. You can see their craftsmanship in the beautiful reeded vanity unit from a recent project.
These relationships are at the heart of creating beautiful, long-lasting designs.
4. Looking Ahead to 2025
With 2024 coming to a close, I’m so excited for what’s ahead. Here’s what’s on the horizon:
● More exciting projects: From new builds to period property updates, I'm thrilled to be bringing fresh ideas to the table.
● Continued travel and learning: I’m committed to seeking inspiration from diverse cultures and continuing to learn from the best in the industry.
● Sustainability and craftsmanship: These values will remain at the core of everything I do, as I continue to champion thoughtful, meaningful design.
